Foundations
Parking garage concrete foundations are in full swing. The 5000 cubic yard mat foundation pour was completed on June 20th which required approximately 500 concrete trucks that cycled through the jobsite in one day. The structure will start going vertical with shotcrete at garage perimeter walls as well as elevator core construction commencing this month.
Public Impacts
5th Avenue
For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required.
Columbia St
The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and 4th Avenue will remain closed throughout the duration of the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.
Mobilizations/Street Closures
The mat foundation pour was completed as scheduled on June 20th. This milestone marks the last of complete road closures for a number of months. Periodic lane closures on Columbia St. will still be necessary for the next month as the foundations for the parking garage on the west side of the project are completed.
